Hi Everyone,
Following our announcement that The Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon presented by Bupa Dental will not be taking place as planned on Sunday 16 May 2021, our team have worked tirelessly to secure a new date. We are delighted to share the good news that the event will now take place on Sunday 27 June 2021.
Postponing an event of this scale is not easy, and we want to thank our incredible stakeholders for working with us to secure the new event date, and to thank you, our athletes, for your understanding and patience as we continue to adapt and adjust in the challenging environment, we continue to operate in.
The current NSW Public Health Order restrictions (as at 26 February 2021) mean we are limited to an event capacity of 5,000 athletes. This means the event is now sold out and we will not be accepting any new entries at this stage. NSW Public Heath processes do allow events to apply for an exemption to this current capacity limit, which we are in the process of doing. If successful, this exemption would allow us to open for more entries, so, pencil Sunday 27 June in your diary, get training and keep an eye on our social media pages for updates in the coming days and weeks.
All registered athletes have been contacted so please check your emails.
In the meantime, we cannot wait to welcome you back to our start line in June 2021.
Kind regards,
Martin Mashford – Race Director
