The Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon will return to its world famous course on Sunday, 19 May 2019 with registrations for Australia’s largest and most iconic Half Marathon now open.
More than 13,000 entrants are expected at the prestigious race, which takes runners on a spectacular 21.1km course taking in some of Sydney’s best views including; the Opera House, Botanic Gardens, Harbour Bridge, The Rocks, Pyrmont Peninsula and Hyde Park.
The most impressive race of its kind in Australia, The Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon attracts a mix of local, interstate and overseas runners, coming together to challenge themselves and achieve a personal best in a stunning location.
Runners of every caliber are invited to rise to the challenge and choose from the individual Half Marathon or share the experience with family and friends by entering as a relay team. Split in two, an 11km and a 10km leg, the relay provides the perfect opportunity for new runners finding their feet at distance running.
All participants will also receive free and exclusive access to a 10 week training plan by JORG, to help achieve their 2019 Half Marathon goals. The specially designed training package provides expert guidance and tips for the race, and commences on Monday, 11 March.
Keen runners looking for an extra reward or a bit of pamper time can also get the VIP treatment by purchasing one of the limited Platinum Passes which includes a personalised race bib, exclusive access to the VIP area with refreshments, massage services and much more.
This year’s event will again partner with a range of Australian charities through everydayhero with the goal to raise over $1 million for a wide range of worthy local, community and worldwide causes. Participants can be a ‘hero’ for their favourite charity, make a one-off donation when completing their event entry or supporters can sponsor a friend or family member who is participating.
